Abstract:
Pregnant patients with Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) require complex care. Coordination and communication across the interdisciplinary team are vital for optimal outcomes. Familiarizing the perianesthesia nurse with concepts specific to this diagnosis greatly impacts mother-baby-family unit and can significantly reduce the risk of maternal morbidity. As the patient with PAS may require care outside the obstetric department, it is imperative to ensure the perianesthesia nurse has the requisite knowledge to serve as the hub of the interdisciplinary team. The purpose of this article is to review current information regarding patients with a diagnosis of PAS and to provide evidence-based interventions for holistic perianesthesia nursing care.
