Abstract:
Skeletal muscle stem cells (MuSCs) are necessary for muscle development and regeneration. Upon external cues, they activate from their quiescent state to self-renew and/or differentiate. The study of MuSCs is challenging as they tend to differentiate when isolated from their microenvironment. Here, we describe an in vitro model that mimics a skeletal muscle environment, allowing MuSC preservation together with myofiber maturation.
