Abstract:
Immune inhibitory checkpoint-molecules play an important role in maintaining immune homeostasis by preventing excessive activation of the immune system. Neurodegenerative diseases are characterized by chronic neuroinflammation, in which T-cell and microglial dysfunction play a key role. This review presents an analysis of current literature demonstrating the role of the immune checkpoint-molecules in the pathogenesis and potential treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
