Abstract:
The construction of an ecological security pattern is of great significance for achieving regional sustainable development and proactive ecological risk prevention and control. This study takes the Three Gorges Reservoir Area as an example, based on the spatial distribution of ecological resilience, and utilizes models such as morphological spatial pattern analysis (MSPA) and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) to construct an ecological security pattern following the approach of "ecological source identification-resistance surface construction-extraction of ecological corridors and points." The results indicated that the ecological resilience of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area exhibited an overall "east-high, west-low" pattern. A total of 26 ecological source areas were identified, covering a total area of 15 093.50 km2, accounting for 26.25% of the study area. Primary ecological source areas were concentrated and contiguously distributed in the eastern and northeastern parts of the reservoir area, secondary ecological source areas were primarily distributed in the southeastern part of the reservoir area, and tertiary ecological source areas were scattered and fragmented in the belly of the reservoir area. High ecological resistance zones were distributed in the central-northern part of the reservoir area and the main urban area of Chongqing, while low ecological resistance zones were distributed at the reservoir head. Based on circuit theory, 49 ecological corridors were identified, running through the belly of the reservoir area in a network layout. Among these, 30 were major ecological corridors, 16 were secondary ecological corridors, and 3 were general ecological corridors. A total of 141 ecological pinch points were identified, primarily concentrated in the eastern part of Chongqing, and 226 ecological barrier points were identified, distributed in the tail and parts of the western belly of the reservoir area. The final ecological security pattern presented was "one core, two belts, four zones, and multiple points," and restoration strategies were designated based on different ecological safety elements, providing scientific basis and practical guidance for ecological safety protection in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area.
