Abstract:
We report a passively mode-locked picosecond Nd:MgO:LiNbO3 laser. The influence of intracavity loss on mode-locking evolution is investigated through numerical simulations and experiments, with the output-coupler transmittance varied as the loss-control parameter. By utilizing an output coupler with a transmittance of 4%, π-polarized picosecond pulses centered at 1084.6 nm are obtained with a pulse duration of 20.7 ps, an average output power of 0.67 W, and a repetition rate of 60.24 MHz. For subsequent mid-infrared self-frequency conversion processes, this work delivers π-polarized 1084 nm picosecond fundamental light and provides theoretical guidance for intracavity-loss control.
