Abstract:
Africa does not lack commitments to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). What it lacks is consistent implementation at the scale required. Over several decades, African governments have endorsed continental frameworks, adopted national policies, and pledged to improve the health and rights of women, adolescents, and young people. Yet, millions still face preventable maternal deaths, unintended pregnancies, unsafe abortions, sexually transmitted infections and HIV, gender-based violence, and inadequate access to essential reproductive health services.
