Abstract:
Direct modulation transfer function (MTF) constraints couple wavefront improvement to fieldwise contrast preservation. We measure a local feasibility map from paired prescription perturbations and use axial feasibility and starting contrast to select residual-corrected cone search or coordinate continuation. At 120 optical evaluations, composite wavefront error decreased by 3.35%, 14.47%, and 38.52% for double-Gauss, fisheye, and telecentric systems. Comparisons over 100-240 evaluations and with constrained linear approximation show that performance depends on system and budget. Zero-tolerance controls reduce the corresponding gains to 2.40%, 12.01%, and 0.55%, identifying the sensitivity of low contrast telecentric branch to the acceptance tolerance.
