Abstract:
A 73-year-old man presented for a transcatheter aortic valve replacement after prosthetic aortic valve dysfunction. During the case, the transvenous pacer lost capture, causing the new prosthetic valve to embolize to the ascending aorta. This case details the intraoperative management throughout the valve deployment, attempted retrieval, and subsequent emergent redo open aortic valve repair with foreign body removal. Complications and considerations of a redo open chest, vasoplegia, cardiopulmonary bypass, aortic dissection, right ventricular failure, heart block, and prosthetic valve embolization are discussed.
