Abstract:
Tarsal tunnel syndrome is an under-recognized yet potentially debilitating entrapment neuropathy that is often misdiagnosed due to its non-specific clinical presentation. This case series presents four representative cases of space-occupying lesions within the tarsal tunnel - ganglion cysts, varicose veins, lipomas, and peripheral nerve sheath tumors - with emphasis on high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging and complementary radiographic and ultrasound findings. We demonstrate the characteristic imaging hallmarks of these lesions, including their mass effect on the tibial neurovascular bundle, signal intensities, and enhancement patterns, to aid clinicians and radiologists in timely recognition of this condition.
