Background:
Low baseline haptoglobin (Hpt) levels have been associated with renal injury after pulsed field ablation (PFA). Postprocedural Hpt responses in patients with very low but measurable baseline Hpt levels remain unknown.
Methods And Results:
We retrospectively analyzed 421 patients undergoing PFA. Patients with baseline Hpt ≤5 mg/dL showed postprocedural Hpt increases, whereas those with higher baseline Hpt showed depletion (P<0.001). Acute kidney injury occurred in 9 patients in the overall cohort.
Conclusions:
Very low but measurable baseline Hpt levels were associated with postprocedural increases in Hpt, warranting further investigation.
