Abstract:
Transradial access has become the preferred approach for percutaneous coronary angiography and intervention, largely because this technique reduces vascular complications, bleeding, costs, and patient discomfort compared with transfemoral access. However, anatomical variation, access site difficulties, procedural complications, and other factors can limit success. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the anatomic basis of transradial access, including radial artery anatomy, patient and access site selection, procedural considerations, complications, and emerging applications. This review also highlights key clinical trial data supporting the benefits of transradial access and discusses future directions in technique and technology. Our goal is to provide a practical, comprehensive resource for successful use of this approach.
