    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the presence of type-C RNA virus structural proteins in human tissues.
    • To characterize immunologically reactive proteins in human tissues using radioimmunoassay.

    • Competition radioimmunoassay using (125)I-labeled Rauscher murine virus p30 antigen and anti-RD 114 serum.
    • Chromatography (phosphocellulose) and gel filtration for protein fractionation.

    • A protein competitor, similar to viral core proteins, was found in systemic lupus erythematosus, neoplastic, and normal human tissues.

    Conclusions:
