    Background:

    • Topical dialysis solutions can cause vasoconstriction in rat microcirculation.
    • The clinical significance of this vasoconstriction in peritoneal dialysis (PD) is not fully understood.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To develop and evaluate a novel dialysis solution (NVS) devoid of vasoactive properties.
    • To assess the impact of this NVS on key parameters of peritoneal dialysis efficacy.

    Main Methods:

    • A novel dialysis solution (NVS) was formulated to mimic human extracellular fluid and lack vasoactive properties.
    • The NVS was tested in a rat model to evaluate its effects on ultrafiltration, urea clearance (Cur), creatinine clearance (Ccr), inulin clearance (Cin), and dialysate protein concentration.
