Recurrence of carcinoma of maxillary antrum after 25 years

A true recurrence of a glandular carcinoma of the antrum was diagnosed 20 years after treatment of the original condition: such an occurrence is rare. Detection of the tumour, however, was delayed as inspection of the original site was not possible during follow-up. Adequate visualization of the tumour area is considered to be of vital importance in the management of cases of malignant disease involving the antrum. The tumour showed a surprisingly good response to radiotherapy.
