    Summary

    Angiotensin II independently stimulates breathing, unlike phenylephrine or aortic balloon inflation which depress it. This study clarifies the complex respiratory effects of angiotensin II in mammals.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the independent effects of angiotensin II on breathing.
    • To compare the respiratory responses to angiotensin II with those induced by phenylephrine and aortic balloon inflation.
