    Summary

    Transfer factor did not show therapeutic value for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients in a double-blind study. Neurological function scores did not significantly differ between transfer factor and placebo groups.

    Background:

    • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease.
    • Investigating novel therapeutic agents for ALS is crucial.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy of transfer factor as a treatment for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

    Main Methods:

    • A double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 66 ALS patients.
    • Monthly administration of transfer factor or placebo.
    • Structured rating scores of neurological function were recorded and analyzed.
