[Effect of insulin on glucose transport in the kidneys]

Chronic experiments on dogs demonstrated an increase in maximum glucose absorption under the effect of insulin (1 ED/kg). The drug was proved to exert a direct action in acute experiments where it was injected (0.1 RD/min) into the renal artery. After administration of cystein the kidneys did not respond to insulin.
