    Summary

    This study found that clemastine, a common antihistamine, did not impair cognitive or motor functions when taken alone. Furthermore, it did not worsen the effects of alcohol on these functions.

    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the effects of clemastine on perceptual, cognitive, and motor functions.
    • To determine if clemastine potentiates the effects of ethanol on these functions.

    Main Methods:

    • Eighty student volunteers received either clemastine (1 mg), ethanol (0.54 g/kg), or both.
    • Performance was assessed across perceptual, cognitive, and motor tasks.

    Main Results:

    • Clemastine alone did not significantly alter performance in any tested domain.
