    • Schwannomas are typically benign peripheral nerve sheath tumors.
    • Intramedullary spinal cord schwannomas are exceptionally rare, comprising less than 1% of all spinal tumors.
    • Von Recklinghausen's disease is a genetic disorder associated with a higher incidence of schwannomas, but this case presents without such signs.
