    Summary

Interstitial cell tumors of the testis are rare in children and adults. This study presents cases and advocates for histologic criteria to determine malignant potential for better treatment.

    Area of Science:

    • Oncology
    • Pediatric Oncology
    • Urologic Oncology

    Background:

    • Interstitial cell tumors (ICTs) of the testis are rare neoplasms.
    • Limited data exists on ICTs in pediatric and adult populations, particularly regarding malignant potential.

    Observation:

    • This study presents two pediatric ICT cases and five adult cases (benign and malignant).
    • A total of 39 pediatric and 13 adult ICT cases have been reported in the literature.

    Findings:

    • Histologic criteria alone may be insufficient to definitively determine the malignant potential of testicular interstitial cell tumors.
    • Further research is needed to establish reliable prognostic indicators for ICTs.

    Implications:

    • Accurate assessment of ICT malignancy is crucial for appropriate therapeutic strategies.
    • Defining reliable histologic criteria could improve patient outcomes and guide treatment decisions in testicular cancer management.
