A modification of Philpott's cervicograph has been in use at Port Moresby General Hospital since 1st July, 1973. The cervicograph, its use, and the results obtained in 1,053 primigravidae and 1,959 multigravidae are described in this paper. The cervicograph efficiently separated normal from abnormal labour and enabled the nursing staff to detect the small number of patients who required skills and facilities that are not available at small peripheral units. the cervicograph should be used in all labour wards in Papua New Guinea.

Local Anesthetics: Clinical Application as Epidural Anesthesia

Epidural anesthetics are administered in the fat-filled epidural space, the outermost part of the spinal canal. This technique is commonly employed for pain management and anesthesia during lower abdomen and pelvis surgeries or labor and delivery.
Since epidural anesthetics can be infused through an epidural catheter, all types of drugs, including short-acting ones, can be administered. Chloroprocaine and lidocaine are examples of short and long-duration anesthetics, respectively. Bupivacaine...

The uterus is securely anchored within the pelvic cavity by paired broad ligaments on either side. It is further stabilized by three pairs of...
