    Abstract:

    During a two-year period, 12 patients with indication for inferior vena cava interruption underwent vena cava occlusion with the transvenous Hunter-Sessions balloon. The device permitted simultaneous anticoagulation (when not contraindicated), was tolerated by sick patients, did not cause mortality or significant morbidity, and prevented pulmonary emboli.
