Abstract:
Increased understanding of neoplasia and of the effects of treatments has stimulated more attention to the measurement of these effects than heretofore. It is argued that this activity, involving controlled clinical trials, has yielded new and useful information and in some circumstances may have more to offer the needs of optimal patient care than traditional methods of making decisions.
