A 20-year experience with ileal conduits: the fate of the kidneys

During the last 20 years 242 patients have undergone ileal conduit urinary diversion at our hospital. Although only 11 per cent of the renal units showed damage after the ileal conduit there was a progressive risk of renal deterioration with increasing time and obstruction was its major cause.
