    Background:

    • Tetracyclines are broad-spectrum antibiotics.
    • Their interaction with host immune mechanisms requires further elucidation.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the impact of various tetracyclines on serum bactericidal activity.
    • To assess effects on bacterial opsonization, phagocytosis, and intracellular killing.

    Main Methods:

    • In vitro assays were used to measure serum bactericidal activity.
    • Phagocytosis and intracellular killing assays were performed.
    • Effects of different tetracyclines (including doxycycline) were evaluated against Escherichia coli.
