    Summary

    Chicken immunoglobulin (IgG) allotypes b1 and b2 are genetically controlled. These allotypes are not detectable on isolated immunoglobulin subunits, suggesting the intact IgG molecule is necessary for their expression.

    • Standard isolation procedures for immunoglobulin subunits may alter or destroy antigenic specificities.
