    Background:

    • Dextran sulfate is a heparin analogue.
    • Thrombin plays a key role in blood coagulation.
    • Antithrombin III (heparin cofactor) is a major inhibitor of thrombin.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To elucidate the mechanism by which dextran sulfate affects thrombin activity.
    • To compare the effects of dextran sulfate and heparin on thrombin and antithrombin III.

    • Measurement of fibrinopeptide release from fibrinogen.
