Diagnosis of left atrial myxoma by echocardiography

The diagnostic use of ultrasound was demonstrated in two patients with left atrial myxoma. In both cases the decision to proceed with confirmatory angiography and ultimate removal of the tumour was initiated by the echocardiographic findings. The echocardiogram proved to be a simple non-invasive technique for the diagnosis of left atrial mass.
