    Summary

    This study found that individuals with higher oral responses on the Rorschach test touched blindfolded guides more and completed the maze faster. This suggests a link between oral personality traits and tactile interaction during navigation tasks.

    Background:

    • The Rorschach test is a projective psychological test used to assess personality characteristics.
    • Orality is a concept in psychoanalytic theory referring to fixation at the oral stage of psychosexual development.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the relationship between oral personality traits and physical interaction during a navigation task.
    • To determine if orality correlates with touching behavior and task completion time.

    Main Methods:

    • Sixty-five undergraduates guided a blindfolded confederate through a floor maze.
    • Recorded frequency of skin touching and time to complete the maze.
    • Administered a Rorschach test and counted oral responses.

    • A positive correlation was found between orality and touching behavior (r=.39, p=.001).
    • A positive correlation was observed between orality and maze completion speed (r=.31, p=.01).
