    Background:

    • Understanding quasi-static magnetic fields is crucial for various applications, including geophysics and medical imaging.
    • Internal electromotive forces within volume conductors generate external fields that require accurate modeling.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To develop a general expression for the quasi-static magnetic field outside inhomogeneous nonmagnetic volume conductors.
    • To derive multipole expansions for electric and magnetic fields and analyze specific cases.

    Main Methods:

    • Development of a general analytical expression for the magnetic field.
    • Application of multipole expansions to electric and magnetic fields.
    • Derivation of the magnetic field for a dipole current source in a sphere and analysis of eccentric inhomogeneities.

    Main Results:

    • A general expression for the quasi-static magnetic field was derived.
    • The external magnetic field was shown to vanish under conditions of axial symmetry.
    • The magnetic field for a dipole current source in a sphere, including eccentric inhomogeneities, was analyzed.

    Conclusions:

    • The study provides a framework for calculating quasi-static magnetic fields in complex conductors.
    • The findings are applicable to scenarios involving internal current sources and inhomogeneities.
    • The vanishing of the magnetic field under axial symmetry simplifies certain analyses.
