    Summary

    Skeletal metastases in dogs are more common than previously thought. This study found that 17% of malignant tumors with visceral metastases also spread to the skeleton.

    Background:

    • Malignant tumors are a significant health concern in dogs.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the incidence and patterns of skeletal metastases in dogs with malignant tumors.
    • To identify primary tumor types and organs most frequently associated with bone metastasis.
    • To compare the incidence of primary and secondary bone tumors.

    • Retrospective analysis of 218 malignant tumors in 209 dogs over 2.5 years.

    • Further research into canine metastatic disease patterns is warranted.
