Primary vs. secondary insertion of anterior chamber lenses
Abstract:
In this prospective study, patients with cataracts were divided into two groups. In Group I, intracapsular cataract extraction with anterior chamber lens insertion was performed as a one-step procedure. Patients in Group II underwent intracapsular cataract extraction followed by secondary insertion of an anterior chamber lens two to three months later. The higher incidence of CME seen with the secondary procedure seems to indicate that primary rather than secondary insertion of anterior chamber lenses is advisable.
