    Background:

    • Cluster headache is a debilitating neurological disorder characterized by severe unilateral head pain.
    • Current treatment options for cluster headache can be limited, necessitating exploration of alternative therapies.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy of lithium carbonate in managing cluster headache attacks.
    • To assess the response rates to lithium carbonate across chronic and episodic cluster headache subtypes.

    Main Methods:

    • A cohort of 15 patients diagnosed with cluster headache (both chronic and episodic forms) were administered lithium carbonate.
    • Patient outcomes were monitored to record the disappearance of attacks, significant improvement, or ineffectiveness of the treatment.

    Main Results:

    • Complete remission of headache attacks was observed in 5 patients (1 chronic, 4 episodic).
    • Significant improvement in headache frequency or intensity was noted in another 5 patients (4 chronic, 1 episodic).

    Conclusions:

    • Lithium carbonate demonstrated a positive therapeutic effect in 50% of patients with cluster headache.
