A family-oriented admission procedure on an inpatient psychiatric unit
Abstract:
The importance of family involvement during inpatient psychiatric treatment is slowly being realized. Effective and meaningful family work can be promoted if the admission process includes family members and attempts to define family issues. In this paper, an admission procedure which emphasizes and encourages family involvement is described and the process illustrated with a case summary.
