Effects of rotation on radiographic dimensions of metacarpals

Abstract:
An experiment is described which shows that small rotations of metacarpals about their long axes produce small systemmatic changes in the cortical dimensions as measured by radiographic morphometry. The effect is of no significance in cross-sectional studies but is an important source of error in sequential studies.
