    Summary

    Gallbladder wall thickening on ultrasound is often seen in cholecystitis but rarely useful. This study suggests ultrasonically visible gallbladder wall thickening may be a new indicator of gallbladder disease.

    • This observation challenges the established view of limited ultrasound usefulness for gallbladder wall assessment.
