    Background:

    • Althesin (alphadione and gammaphaxone) is an induction agent for anesthesia.
    • Controlled infusions of anesthetic agents are increasingly used in surgical procedures.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Althesin as a controlled infusion for neurosurgical procedures.
    • To assess the impact of Althesin infusions on anesthetic and narcotic requirements.
    • To determine the recovery profile of patients undergoing neurosurgery with Althesin anesthesia.

    Main Methods:

    • Althesin was administered as an induction agent and then as a controlled infusion.
    • Fentanyl was used for supplemental analgesia.
