[Express evaluation of the contractile state of the myocardium after heart operations]
Insights
This study analyzed intraventricular pressure curves after heart disease correction. Changes in curve shape can rapidly diagnose myocardial insufficiency, even with normal pressures.
Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Cardiac Physiology
Background:
- Assessing cardiac function post-heart disease correction is crucial.
- Intraventricular pressure dynamics offer insights into myocardial performance.
Observation:
- Long-term cardiac catheterization was used to monitor intraventricular pressure curves.
- Three primary types of pressure curves were identified.
- Right ventricular pressure curves indicated pulmonary hypertension with myocardial insufficiency.
Findings:
- In the absence of pulmonary circulation abnormalities, pressure curve shape directly correlates with myocardial contractility.
- This relationship aids in the rapid diagnosis of myocardial insufficiency.
Implications:
- The study provides a method for rapid diagnosis of myocardial insufficiency.
- Understanding pressure curve dynamics can guide treatment strategies for heart disease patients.
Abstract:
By means of the method of long-term catheterization of the cardiac chambers, the authors studied the dynamics of changes in the shape of the intraventricular pressure curves after correction of congenital and acquired heart diseases. Analysis revealed three main types of pressure curves. With the development of myocardial insufficiency under conditions of normal pressure, pressure curves characteristic of hypertension of pulmonary circulation were recorded in the right ventricle. The absence of abnormalities in pulmonary circulation made it possible to demonstrate a direct dependence of the shape of the curves on the contractile condition of the myocardium, which is valuable in the rapid diagnosis of myocardial insufficiency.
