Abstract:
A case is presented of a young girl with syringomyelia presenting as a mass lesion of the conus medullaris. Computerized tomography of the cerical spinal cord revealed asymptomatic extension of the syrinx to that level. Seven other similar cases are reviewed, and suggestions made for preoperative diagnosis of this unusual entity.
