    Summary

A novel nephropexy technique using an autograft from the upper pole to the diaphragm offers a minimally invasive surgical option. This simple method achieved good results in 45 patients, avoiding complications in those without renal pelvis or vascular issues.

    Area of Science:

    • Urology
    • Surgical Innovation
    • Nephrology

    Background:

    • Nephropexy is a surgical procedure to correct kidney ptosis.
    • Traditional methods may involve significant invasiveness or specific patient criteria.
    • A need exists for simpler, less injurious nephropexy techniques.

    Observation:

    • A new nephropexy technique utilizes an autograft from the upper pole of the kidney to the diaphragm.
    • The surgical approach is via an intercostal lumbotomy.
    • This method is suitable for patients not requiring renal pelvis, ureter, or vascular pedicle surgery.

    Findings:

    • The described nephropexy method is minimally injurious and technically straightforward.
    • The technique was successfully applied in 45 patients.
    • Both immediate and long-term outcomes were favorable.

    Implications:

    • This autograft nephropexy presents a viable, less invasive alternative for specific patient populations.
    • The simplicity and efficacy suggest potential for wider adoption in clinical practice.
    • Further studies could explore long-term efficacy and broader applicability.
