    Background:

    • Oligodendrocytes are glial cells responsible for producing myelin in the central nervous system (CNS).
    • Demyelinating disorders involve the destruction of myelin, leading to neurological dysfunction.
    • Understanding the immunobiology of oligodendrocytes is crucial for investigating demyelinating diseases.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To generate and characterize antibodies against oligodendrocytes.
    • To investigate the presence of humoral and cell-mediated immunity (CMI) against oligodendrocytes.
    • To explore the potential role of anti-oligodendrocyte immunity in the pathogenesis of demyelinating disorders.

    Main Methods:

    • Isolation of oligodendrocytes from bovine white matter.
    • Generation of rabbit and guinea pig anti-oligodendrocyte (RAO, GPAO) sera.

    • Further research is warranted to elucidate the precise mechanisms involved.
