Enkephalins in large bowel malignancy and in acute appendicitis.
Methionine enkephalin levels are elevated in colon adenocarcinomas and inflamed appendices. Leucine enkephalin levels showed no significant change in these conditions, unlike anaplastic caecal tumors which lacked opioid activity.
