Summary

Testing for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) using solid phase radioimmunoassay "sandwich" technique (SPRIA) showed variations in specificity. Optimizing SPRIA conditions, like temperature and antibody type, significantly reduced false positive results for HBsAg detection.
