Endurance fitness and a home exercise program in college girls
Canadian Medical Association Journal
|April 11, 1970
Abstract:
College girls exercising at home for 19 minutes daily using the 10BX Royal Canadian Air Force exercise plan, with the addition of rope skipping, improved their physical working capacity and maximal oxygen uptake by 7 and 9% after six weeks. No change occurred in a matched control group. Changes in endurance fitness with this type of training are of relatively small magnitude, and reproducible measurements are required for their demonstration. The small gains in aerobic power would seem to be of little practical significance for the subjects, and a major drawback of any home exercise program is the lack of motivation to continue.
