    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate coagulation defects in hemodialysis patients with thrombosed fistulas.
    • To evaluate the impact of correcting hypercoagulable states on vascular access success.

    Main Methods:

    • Evaluation of 29 patients with thrombosed fistulas for antithrombin deficiencies and platelet hyperaggregability.
    • Identification of coagulation defects in a subset of patients.
    • Correction of identified hypercoagulable states.
    • Assessment of tertiary vascular access procedure success rates using autologous tissues.

    Main Results:

    • Thirteen out of 29 evaluated patients had one or more coagulation defects.
