Abstract:
A quantitative evaluation of the relative distribution of synapses on dendritic shafts and spines serves to differentiate the neuropil of the preoptic area from that of the ventromedial hypothalamic nucleus; it also shows that the neuropil of the preoptic area is sexually dimorphic.
