    Summary

    Leprosy patients were studied for cardiovascular reflex responses. Three patients, all from the bacilliferous group, exhibited cardiac dysautonomia affecting both sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

    Background:

    • Leprosy, a chronic infectious disease, can affect various organ systems.
    • Cardiovascular complications in leprosy are not fully understood.
    • Autonomic nervous system involvement is a potential complication of leprosy.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate cardiovascular reflex responses in patients with leprosy.
    • To identify the prevalence and characteristics of cardiac dysautonomia in leprosy patients.

    Main Methods:

    • Studied 15 patients diagnosed with leprosy.
    • Continuously monitored heart rate using electrocardiogram (ECG).
    • Simultaneously recorded blood pressure to assess cardiovascular reflexes.
