Keratinized cells as a possible yellow-stain receptor for gold-orange

Using a previously described staining procedure, it was found that gold-orange stains some epithelial cells yellow, both in skin sections and in cytologic smears from skin and various other epithelia. A correlation seems to exist between the degree of keratinization and the yellow colour obtained with this staining method.
