    Background:

    • Graves' disease is an autoimmune disorder causing hyperthyroidism.
    • Propylthiouracil (PTU) is a common antithyroid medication.
    • Optimizing PTU dosing regimens is crucial for effective treatment.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To compare the efficacy of two different propylthiouracil (PTU) dosing schedules in patients with Graves' disease.
    • To determine if a divided daily dose or a single daily dose of PTU yields better therapeutic outcomes.

    Main Methods:

    • Forty-nine patients with Graves' disease were randomized into two groups.
    • Group 1 received PTU 150 mg every eight hours.
    • Group 2 received PTU 450 mg as a single daily dose, with a subsequent switch to the divided schedule for non-responders.
