Pulmonary structural changes following microembolism and blood transfusion. A light and electron microscopic study

Microaggregates in stored blood cause lung damage after transfusion. Using Dacron wool (Swank) filters to remove these microaggregates prevented lung injury in dogs, highlighting filter efficacy.
